A virtual instrument implements instrument functions by combining a computer with functional hardware. Users operate the system via the computer graphical interface to perform acquisition, analysis, judgment, display and data storage of measured quantities. In this way, it is as if users are operating a custom-designed virtual instrument — hence the name.
